Nepal has now a National Energy Efficiency Strategy, a  specific strategy for the promotion of energy efficiency in the country. The government of Nepal has approved the National Energy Efficiency Strategy (NEEST) on Nov 19, 2018. NEEST has been prepared to develop, implement, coordinate and manage the energy efficiency initiatives in the country. It is envisaged that the strategy will play a pivotal role in establishing necessary policy, regulatory and institutional frameworks required for implementation and monitoring of energy efficiency programs as well as for interagency coordination.
